She’s here!

I walked into the hospital early in the morning on July 13th knowing that my life was about to change, but having no idea how much. Mama, Dan and I arrived very weary from the long night before and checked in. The C-section was delayed from the noon time they told us I was to go back. Dan and I were finally taken back at about 1:15. By this time, a lot of family had gathered because they thought Brittain would have already been born long before. I can remember walking down the hall to the operating room. I was using one hand to hold the back of my hospital gown closed and the other to hold Dan’s hand so tightly that I’m sure I cut off the circulation. Everyone in the family was following us. I felt like my legs were going to collapse right out from under me and I kept thinking, “Why can’t we just do this tomorrow? I really don’t think I can do this right now!”

I felt much better once I got into the operating room and the anesthesiologist gave me something in my IV that calmed me right down.

Dan took this picture of me right before they started the surgery:

And seeing her for the first time:

Our precious Brittain Olivia was born at 1:28 PM on July 13, 2006 via C-section. These photos were taken just a couple hours after she came into this world. Isn’t she the most adorable thing ever? :-)

And here’s the happy family in the hospital:

Brittain

We were fortunate enough to have an “extended stay” in the hospital due to a minor complication from my spinal. (Would have been nice if someone had told me not to raise up my head because I might get a spinal headache and then have to have my spine stuck with a needle AGAIN to patch it back up.) We were in the hospital until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17th. Fortunately, we were surrounded by friends and family the entire time.

I love these pictures because none of us can stop staring at her. She was just so beautiful and perfect and we couldn’t believe she was actually finally here with us.
