another year begins…(8.9.10)

When August came around I couldn’t believe summer was already over and yet a new school year was beginning. This year was even more of a difficult transition from the normal late nights and early mornings. This time, we had to be on that schedule every day of the week (as opposed to just going to school 3 days during the week as we did last year). And, instead of a 9:00 arrival time, it was 8:30 this time and even more important to make it on time. We’ve done pretty good since starting this new schedule and I learned very quickly that I could avoid much conflict if the outfits I chose for her didn’t consist of jeans or “itchy” shirts.

Thankfully, since Brittain started preschool, I have yet had to drop her off and go home to cry out of fear she wouldn’t have fun or she wouldn’t make friends or she just plain wouldn’t like it. I’ve been fortunate enough to drop her off at First Methodist preschool, a familiar place to both her and me. And each morning she gives me a kiss, gets out of the car and happily walks down the hallway that I walked down at her age, there’s no other way to feel than just pure joy. I get to drive off with a smile on my face, knowing she’s safe, knowing that we’re blessed with wonderful people to take care of her.
