baby madison (4.10.10)

Baby Madison, Brittain’s first cousin has had quite an adventure in her first few months of life. Just when she thought her wild ride was over, her mommy got a new job in Denver and everything was turned upside down for her. Thankfully, her Gramy and Papa stepped up to the plate to help out Doug and Michelle by taking Madison in until things got settled in Denver. This was, of course, a dream come true for Brittain because she LOVES babies…especially real ones.

I took these few pictures when Mama stopped over to see her.

easter weekend (4.3.10)

We were lucky enough this year for Aunt CC’s birthday to fall on the same weekend as Easter. So, Aunt CC and Uncle Makew came to town and we packed in a lot of fun in a short amount of time.

The Easter fun began with Brittain’s preschool Easter egg hunt. Mimi and I watched as Brittain did NOT care about gathering eggs. She concentrated on each egg she picked up, very slowly, while all the other kids ran around like wild animals. In the end, she had a handful of eggs…that I had picked up for her.

Aunt CC helped again at the annual Easter egg hunt at the church. Just like last year, Brittain didn’t much care about the number of eggs she got. In fact, when it was announced that the golden egg had yet to be found, Brittain told her Aunt CC, “I don’t want the golden egg.”

Easter day:

By far the most interesting part of the day was when we went outside at my parents to take pictures. Before we all walked outside, Pappy announced that he had something to tell all of us so he wanted us to hang around after pictures so we’d all be together. Who knows what we were all thinking. My thought was that he was going to tell us he was getting married. I was WAY off. When pictures were complete, we all stood in a circle awaiting the news. He pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and asked someone to read it for him. Mama volunteered…or maybe she was forced…I’m not sure. She began reading a letter that one of Pappy’s old girlfriends from college had written him. As Mama was reading it became clear where it was going. This woman had a daughter. She was around my mom’s age and…she very much resembled Pappy!!!!!!! The funny thing was that before anyone realized exactly what was going on, I decided to just start taking pictures. If you scroll back up you will see a couple of pictures of people with confused looks…everyone was trying to figure it out. And then there it was, the daughter was Pappy’s and the woman had never told him, but she felt that the right time was now.

And then Mama flipped over the sheet of paper.

And it said April Fools Day.
