our favorite ladybugs

I will first introduce to you Brittain’s cousin, Sophie. Sophie, Cecilia and Matt’s new puppy, joined the family just a few weeks ago. We had been very IMpatiently waiting to meet Sophie. Aunt CC and Sophie finally came to see us the week of Halloween. Aunt CC and I had a girls night out alone at the NKOTB concert and then the rest of their visit we spent as much time together as possible. We danced, we laughed, we sang, we kissed, we hugged, and we stayed up WAAAAAY past our bedtimes. But paleeeeeeease, would we really do it any other way?

Brittain and Sophie’s first meeting. Yeah, Sophie was MUCH more afraid than Brittain was:

Aunt CC surprised all of us by buying a matching ladybug costume for Sophie. So, Halloween day began with matching outfits at preschool. It was WAY too much fun. Perhaps the most humorous part was that Brittain cared the least about having Sophie there. The other kids? They loved it! In fact, they loved it so much that Cecilia got extremely tickled by the outpouring of love these kids had for Sophie. She could barely keep her balance as the kids surrounded her.

At 10:30, I arrived back at preschool for the Halloween party, and Mimi joined me. Everything was so cute and really fun. I had a permanent smile plastered across my face the entire time. I don’t know that there is anything that makes me happier than seeing Brittain happy and having a good time. She was having the time of her life.

When the party ended, Brittain and I hung around the church for a while so I could take some more pictures. She was totally content looking through her goody bags. Who would know that 12 different spider rings could thrill a person so much?

Much to my disbelief, Brittain DID take a nap that afternoon. As soon as she woke up we suited up again for the rest of our Halloween day. As if the day hadn’t already been fun enough, it only seemed to get better. Before we headed to the church for Trunk or Treat, we stopped by Gramy and Papa’s to test out our “knock knock…Trick or Treat!!!”

And then the party at the church. Wouldn’t you know that there was another one of those bouncy things there. Do you have any idea how excited she was?

After it was over, we were tired, we were ALL tired. But, the evening wasn’t over. We made a quick stop by Mimi and Doot’s:

Our last stop was to Aunt Janice and Uncle Terry’s. The tenticles were crooked and the ladybug skirt had taken it’s toll, but Brittain hung in there a little while longer so that she could receive the last bit of candy from the day.

the castle

There is no other title that is more appropriate than this one. On Saturday, October 18th, Brittain attended Ava Parker’s 2nd birthday party…and Mimi and I tagged along. The funny thing is, when I found out Dan was scheduled to work, I invited Mimi along but made sure to tell her that if she couldn’t come for some reason, not to worry about it because I would be completely fine watching Brittain and also taking some pictures. This turned out to be a huge joke, of course, because in the end it took both Mimi and myself performing a balancing act. By the time we left that afternoon all three of us were completely exhausted.

The main entertainment for the party (aside from Ava, of course) was one of those big bouncy castle things. Brittain’s first experience with one of these was at Emma-Kate’s birthday party and she didn’t really start having fun at her party until about 5 minutes before we left. I was interested to see how this was going to go. I was thrilled that she immediately started having fun. In fact, when everyone else was gathered around with Ava as she opened gifts, Brittain was still jumping in the castle – by herself. The Parkers rented the castle for the whole weekend, so we even got to go back on Sunday and jump some more. I thought Brittain was going to cry when the castle had to be taken away. In fact, as I was working on this blog post tonight and she saw the castle, she said, “There’s the castle! Can we go jump in it?” Ugh…why does she make me want to go out and buy her one of those things right now?!

We were so excited to be a part of another one of Ava’s birthdays. We look forward to many, many more.
